Description

The Craig fly rod is ideal for getting those dries on the water with just the right presentation.

With a slightly softer action than our other fly fishing rods, a tried-and-true IM10 carbon fiber composition ensures that a 5wt Craig comes in at just 3 ounces, perfect for long days on the trail. Tuck it into your backpack, stuff it in your camper, or carry it onto an airplane—we love packing this fly rod into all the hard-to-reach places.

We pride ourselves in building rods that look, feel, and perform like custom fly rods. Rich brown hues and golden highlights give the Craig a classic, old-time aesthetic—enhanced by durable features like a AAA+ quality cork grip, CNC-machined aluminum reel seat, and high-end epoxy finish. This rod's ready to go wherever the river may take you.

All of our fly rods come with a rod sock and rod/reel combo case.

My favorite fly rod!

"I purchased the "Craig" in May, 2026, and I have have had the opportunity to take it on multiple fishing trips since then. It handles great, and built very well. The customer service was also great! Thank you, Montana Casting Co. !"

I have been out of

"I have been out of the fly fishing game for 20 years. I wanted to up the quality of my rod and reel if I was going to get back in, so I did some research and came across the Montana Casting Co. I liked what I read and found the Craig Fly Rod 4 piece combo to be exactly what I was looking for. I took a shot on it and am glad I did. I took my first trip to Bridgeport, CA to try it out. It did not disappoint. The action on the rod made casting very easy and the reel is smooth for stripping line and bringing in fish. I used this setup for river fishing as well as float tube fishing on lakes. It performed well with both types of fishing which makes for great versatility. I just got back from a 3 day trip to Kern River, CA. Again, this combo was everything I had hoped it would be. The action on the rod made it a lot of fun to fight fish and the reel performed great. The other part I like about this company is the personal customer service. Scott called me on his personal cell phone to make sure we had all the specs right with the order before sending it. I am glad he did because we ended up making a couple of changes. If he had not done this, I would have to send it back to make the changes and it would not have been ready to go for my upcoming trip. Scott even told me to save his number and to reach out anytime. Who does that?! So cool. Love the combo. Great way to get back into the game and it looks sexy. Daynon Higgins Orange County, CA"

Scott was so great to

"Scott was so great to work with, as he helped me through the decision-making process and I ended up with my new Craig Rod/406 Lite Reel combo. Shipping was fast also. Got it in a matter of days. Can't wait to wet a line with it this spring around NW MT, and in The Bob this summer."

Super rod!! Well worth the price!

"This is an incredible rod. I own many rods and have fished with many others. This rod I rate as the best I have fished. Recent took it on a trip to Central Oregon and fished the Metolius and Crooked Rivers. Very responsive rod with great action!! I think it may be my new "go to" rod!!"

Great Fly Rod.

"I recently purchased a 6 Weight “Craig Fly Rod” and I am thrilled with it. Its construction and performance, wrapped in a classy appearance, is a fine package. This rod has a well-defined action. Starting from the pre-load, it carries convincing energy mid-cast connecting you to your line right away. Enjoyable, super fun to cast. It wants to fish. Nice work Montana Casting Co. Sam L."

Explore All Our Fly Rods

Craig Fly Fishing Rod

It’d be great if we could talk Mother Nature into blue skies and windless days every time we wanted to hit the river. Unfortunately for us, she rarely cooperates. Whether it’s rainclouds over a high mountain lake or blistering heat in the open plains, we’ve all had to brave the elements for the love of fly fishing—and our rods are no different. The Craig fly rod, like all Montana Casting Co. rods, was designed with harsh conditions in mind.

Dearborn Fly Fishing Rod

We put performance first in all our fly fishing gear—that’s why the Dearborn fly rod combines a high-octane fast action and, woven carbon composition to help you achieve precision casting in the toughest conditions. Learn more about how we’ve applied all the Montanan grit, experience, and values at our disposal to bring you fly rods that will out-fish your expectations at every cast.

Warm Springs Fly Fishing Rod

The Warm Springs is our flagship fly fishing rod. We poured every ounce of our collective craftsmanship and fly fishing know-how into its design because we believe a fly rod is more than the sum of its parts. It’s your tool. It’s your connection to the river and every memory you make on the water.
