This CNC machined aluminum fly reel

has been augmented with a carbon-fiber insert to make it even lighter; weighing in right around 5oz, this is an ideal choice for any fly fisherman looking to do some trailblazing.

Cutting weight doesn’t mean sacrificing control, however. With a flawlessly balanced spool and sealed, micro-adjustable disc drag system, you won’t feel any wobble when that monster trout takes off and sets your reel to screaming! A woven carbon finish makes for a handsome match with the Dearborn fly rod, but this fly reel is also a perfect lightweight addition to any of our rods.

The Lite 406 fly fishing reel is laser engraved with the MCCo. trout logo and comes in a protective neoprene bag and a 100% recyclable box. "To begin with, I am new to fly fishing and certainly in the learning phase. I began researching fly reels and came across the Lite 406. I called the MCC and Scott answered. he spent quite a bit of time talking with me and sharing his knowledge on the topic, discussed pros and cons, and made suggestion and gave reasoning to gear selections. I ultimately went with the Lite 406 and will be pairing it with an EDGE Beta Alpha 5wt rod. "I used the LITE406 this weekend on a Dearborn fly rod from Montana Casting Company and came away impressed. It’s a lightweight, balanced reel with solid drag and real-world performance. Design: Very light, compact, and easy to pair with mid-to-light action rods. Works surprisingly well on the Dearborn rod for a balanced setup. Performance: Smooth, progressive drag; good line management; casts feel effortless with light lines and tippets. Usability: Simple maintenance and quick spool swaps. Ergonomics stay comfortable over long casts. Pros: Lightweight, balanced, compatible with the Dearborn rod, travel-friendly. Cons: Not for heavy saltwater or big-game species; drag is tuned for lighter targets. Verdict: A strong pick for trout, panfish, and finesse setups, especially when paired with the Dearborn fly rod for a nimble, portable system."

You’ll just have to buy one!

"There are a lot of reels on the market that prioritize looks over functionality… they may look good in a post on Instagram… but they don’t really catch fish or function very well. Well I can honestly say this is the first reel I’ve fished with that can actually do BOTH! This reel has some seriously killer styling. Its fit and finish is a 10/10, hands down. I’ve spent a lot of time machining in my career as an engineer, and I can tell that every little detail was looked after when designing and fabricating this reel. Additionally, another claim-to-fame from the manufacturer is that this reel is light…. And it REALLY is. When I’m using this reel it literally feels like I’m casting my Tenkara rod… it’s THAT light. But despite being light, it doesn’t upset any casting dynamics or balance…. It casts quite well. I’ve been fishing with this reel quite a bit in Utah and it hasn’t let me down yet… and I don’t expect that it will! Oh, and the price point on this reel is pretty stellar. You can go to any mainstream sporting goods shop OR niche fly-shop and I would bet my last dollar that you couldn’t find a reel that can do what this reel does, at the price point this reel maintains."
